COLOMBO (News1st): Indika Rathnamalala, a former transport manager of Sathosa, has been arrested by officers of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID).

He was taken into custody on charges of aiding and abetting the misappropriation of state property.

Police said that the arrest was made last night while he was staying at a hotel in Galle.

This arrest follows the recent apprehension of Johann Fernando, the son of former Minister Johnston Fernando.

Johann Fernando was arrested on several charges, including:

Misuse of public property.

Misleading officials by providing false information to obtain an ethanol license.

Defrauding the government on tax revenue.

Money laundering.

Accordingly, Indika Rathnamalala was arrested for his alleged role in aiding and abetting these offenses.

The investigation was initiated based on an anonymous complaint received by the FCID in November 2015, regarding a company operated at an address on Amarasekara Mawatha, Colombo.
