COLOMBO (News1st): A complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) where the official website of the Ministry of Public Security was compromised by external parties in multiple occasions.

The complaint was filed by the Secretary to the Ministry, retired Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne.

Police said that a lack of clarity was observed in the State Emblem displayed on the ministry website.

Although the site was accessed by external parties on multiple occasions, steps have already been taken to restore it.

The restoration process was carried out jointly by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) and the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka.

The CID has launched an investigation based on the Secretary's complaint. Additionally, police confirmed that an internal ministerial-level inquiry has also been initiated to look into the security breach.
