COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan Police outlined the next steps in handling the three suspects flown back from Dubai, following a major international enforcement operation.

Police Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler revealed that through extradition cooperation strengthened between 2024 and 2025, Sri Lanka has successfully brought back 21 fugitives who had fled abroad.

He said a significant number of criminals involved in cyber‑enabled organised crime from overseas safe havens have already been identified, adding that 95 Red Notices have been issued against them.

“As a result of this ongoing crackdown, we were able to bring back two male suspects and one female suspect early this morning through the Bandaranaike International Airport,” he said.

One of the men flown in is a resident of the Kadana Police Division, wanted in connection with a 2025 July murder, where a vehicle was shot at, resulting in a fatality. Police had long identified him as the main suspect in the high‑profile case.

He has now been handed over to the Kelaniya Crime Division for further investigations.

The second male suspect is a resident of Elpitiya, known to police as a dangerous underworld associate deeply embedded in organised criminal gangs in the Southern Province. He is linked to several serious crimes, including: contract killings, firearm possession, and major organised violence.

ASP Wootler said this suspect played a central role in directing criminal operations in Sri Lanka while hiding overseas.

The third suspect, a woman from the Mount Lavinia Police Division, was arrested over multiple counts of state fund misappropriation committed in 2014. She is accused of several financial frauds involving government money.
She has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department, with further legal action to follow.
