COPE to Introduce New Law for Fishermen to Hand Over Fish Byproducts

COLOMBO (News 1st): Dr. Nishantha Samaraweera, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), has said a law will be implemented to make it mandatory for fishermen to hand over fish byproducts.

He noted that designated collection points will be established for fishermen to handover these byproducts.

Dr. Samaraweera added that strict legal action will be taken against fishermen that fail to return the containers used to transport the catch.
