COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka is referenced 188 times in the publicly released U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Epstein document archive, according to multiple independent reviews of the searchable database hosted on Justice.gov.

A search for the term “Sri Lanka” across the datasets, which include emails, correspondence, travel notes, contact logs, attachments and miscellaneous communications , shows that Sri Lanka’s presence in the archive is incidental rather than meaningful.

The mentions appear in emails, travel‑related communications, background details and side conversations unrelated to the core criminal investigations.

Several entries are casual references, such as individuals saying they were “in Sri Lanka,” planning trips, or noted as residing here.

Importantly, there is no indication that Sri Lanka had any direct connection to Epstein’s criminal operations or activities.

Most of these references come from the enormous trove of materials the DOJ has been releasing under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandates public disclosure of documents related to the case. The DOJ’s own page confirms the repository contains millions of files with varying levels of redaction.

None of the Sri Lanka‑linked entries suggest wrongdoing by Sri Lankan individuals, place Sri Lanka as a location of illicit activity, or tie the country to Epstein’s operational network.
