Mid-Week Holiday Declared To Cut Energy Use

COLOMBO (News 1st): In a move to manage national resources, the government has declared today a public holiday. The decision comes as part of a broader effort to reduce national energy consumption.

The Commissioner General of Essential Services, Prabath Chandrakeerthi, addressed the public during an exclusive discussion with News 1st and emphasized the importance of collective action, urging citizens to avoid non-essential travel and minimize power usage.

The Commissioner General called for maximum public cooperation to ensure the success of the government’s energy-saving program during this period.
