ADB Launches Rs. 6.7 Bn Financial Assistance Programme to Boost Sri Lanka's Health Sector

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a Rs. 6.7 Billion financial assistance programme aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s Health Sector.

The programme covers all nine provinces of the country.

Under the programme, each province is expected to receive Rs. 750 Million next year.

Plans related to the programme are required to be prepared and submitted to the Finance Commission by November.

Accordingly, health development programmes will be implemented in all provinces with funds allocated from January next year.

The Asian Development Bank has approved a US$100 million loan for the overall programme under a Results or Performance-Driven lending mechanism. 

This includes a US$6.9 million foreign grant.
