Over 45,000 Arrested In Islandwide Drug Raids In First Seven Months

COLOMBO (News 1st); In the first seven months of this year, 45,111 individuals were arrested for possession of the drug ICE during special operations.
According to police, 1,398 kilograms and 499 grams of ICE were seized during these operations.
Meanwhile, 37,251 suspects were arrested with 930 kilograms of heroin, and 40,404 suspects were taken into custody with 11,438 kilograms of cannabis.
In operations conducted yesterday alone, 488 individuals were arrested.
These islandwide operations are being carried out jointly by the Police, the Police Special Task Force, and the Tri-Forces.
