CID Nabs Smuggler with 349 Phones and 17 Tablets Worth Rs. 50 Mn

COLOMBO (News 1st); A 35-year-old resident of Colombo 06 has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle a large consignment of high-value electronic devices, including mobile phones and tablets, into the country without proper documentation.

The arrest was made during a special operation conducted by officers of the Airport Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Authorities revealed that the suspect was in possession of 349 mobile phones and 17 tablet devices, with an estimated total value exceeding Rs. 50 million.
