Three Arrested Over Brutal Wattala Murder Linked to Past Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in the Alwiswatte area of Hekitta, Wattala.

The suspects, aged 17, 25, and 27, were taken into custody during coordinated operations in Mutuwal and Wattala. 

All three are residents of Colombo 15 and Wattala. 

Investigators recovered two mobile phones believed to have been used in planning and executing the crime.

The murder occurred on July 19, when four masked individuals arrived at the victim’s two-storey residence in a three-wheeler and launched a violent assault using sharp weapons. 

The victim, who was inside his home at the time, died on the spot due to multiple stab wounds.

Initial police investigations have revealed that the deceased was allegedly involved in a 2023 shooting incident in Mahabage, where he reportedly assisted in the killing of another individual.
