Police arrest gunman linked to thirukkovil killings

COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect believed to be the main gunman in several murders allegedly carried out by Iniya Bharathi has been arrested in Colombo.

The arrest was made by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Police stated that information has emerged linking the suspect to multiple incidents, including the murder of the Chairman of the Thirukkovil Pradeshiya Sabha. 

Further questioning of the Thirukkovil resident suspect is currently underway. 

He was taken into custody while attempting to obtain a foreign travel document arranged through another person.
