Former UNP pradeshiya sabha member Arrested for Assaulting Padukka Police Officer

COLOMBO (News 1st): A Former UNP pradeshiya sabha member has been arrested in connection with an assault on the Head of the Vehicle Division at Padukka Police.

Police said the suspect had arrived at Padukka Police yesterday evening with a group of people while intoxicated, seeking bail for a traffic accident.

During the incident, the suspect obstructed police duties, issued threats using abusive language, and assaulted the officer of the Vehicle Division.

The injured officer is currently receiving treatment at Homagama Hospital. The suspect has also been admitted to the same hospital and is under police custody for medical supervision.
