COLOMBO (News 1st);Sri Lanka Customs says it will take steps to re-export 400 containers of salt that have been detained at the port.
Customs Media Spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda said that the containers were detained because they were imported after the deadline set by the government for salt importation.
The government had granted permission for salt imports until June 10.
Customs added that importers are still keeping these containers in the port yards by paying late fees.
