COLOMBO (News 1st); In the past three years, more than 226 engineers from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have taken up employment overseas, accounting for 20% of the board’s engineering workforce.
The CEB said attractive salaries and better living standards abroad have driven this trend, with countries such as Australia and Ireland being popular destinations.
CEB spokesperson Dhammika Wimalasena said that as a result, the board faces significant engineering vacancies and plans to urgently recruit qualified professionals.
