UK Couple Gives Back to Island They Love

Moved by Their Holiday Experience, British Couple Helps Cyclone‑Hit Sri Lankans

COLOMBO (News 1st); A British couple residing near the Sri Lankan High Commission in the United Kingdom, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wood, has donated £2,000 to the 'Rebuilding Sri Lanka' fund, relief fund estavlished to help those affected by Cyclone Ditwa.

The couple officially handed over the donation receipt and a letter to the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the UK, Nimal Senadheera.

In the letter, the couple stated that the donation was made to support Sri Lankans impacted by the cyclone. 

The couple said, they were deeply impressed by the country’s natural beauty, the high qualities of its people, and the delicious cuisine they experienced during a three-week visit to Sri Lanka over the Christmas and New Year.

Furthermore, in the letter , they said despite the damage caused by the cyclone Ditwah, the country’s resilience in rebuilding was clearly visible and expressed their desire to maintain friendly relations with their neighbor, the Sri Lankan High Commission, and extended best wishes for Sri Lanka’s Independence Day.
