COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced that the QR‑based fuel distribution system for petrol vehicles will be reactivated from midnight tomorrow (18).

Speaking at a media briefing held today (17), CPC Chairman D. J. Rajakaruna said that with the reactivation of the QR system, the previous fuel quota limits for petrol vehicles will also come back into effect.

He explained that the QR system had been temporarily suspended for petrol vehicles starting from midnight on the 11th, until midnight tomorrow, due to the festive season.

During this period, petrol was issued without considering the QR mechanism, and distribution was carried out under the odd‑even number plate system.

However, the QR‑based fuel distribution system continued to operate for diesel vehicles throughout this period.

Accordingly, the CPC confirmed that from midnight tomorrow, the QR system will once again be fully operational for all vehicles, including both petrol and diesel.
