President Appoints G.M.R.D. Aponsu As New Energy Secretary

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed G.M.R.D. Aponsu as the Secretary to the Ministry of Energy.

The official letter of appointment was handed over to Aponsu by Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (17).

Prior to this appointment, Aponsu served as Senior Additional Secretary to the President for Finance and Economic Affairs and is a senior officer of the Sri Lanka Planning Service (SLPS).

He brings extensive professional experience in the fields of national planning, public financial management, macroeconomic forecasting, development finance, financial analysis, tax policy, and higher education planning.

In his role at the Presidential Secretariat, Aponsu provided strategic policy guidance on economic governance and national development priorities, serving as the head of the Finance and Economic Affairs Division.
