Mining Permits to be Issued Online

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau has announced that all mining permits will be issued exclusively online in the future.

Chairman of the Bureau S. N. Jayasinghe said the move aims to identify locations where illegal mining is taking place.

He added that a comprehensive database will be created by mapping all active mining sites, enabling authorities to verify at any time whether mining activities at a given location are authorised.
