Pistol Linked to Ex-UNP Councilor’s Murder Found in Suspect Car

COLOMBO (News 1st); A firearm has been recovered from the vehicle allegedly used in the fatal shooting of former United National Party Local Councilor Shantha Mudunkotuwa.

Police arrested the driver and seized the vehicle yesterday evening at the Palam Thuna Junction in Battaramulla. 

However, the gunman remains at large.

The shooting took place yesterday afternoon on Atigala Road in Meegoda. 

Mudunkotuwa, who was riding a motorcycle at the time, was shot by assailants who arrived in a car and fled the scene immediately after the attack.

The 46-year-old victim was a resident of Padukka.
