Over 3,500 traffic offences detected in nationwide police crackdown

COLOMBO (News 1st): As part of a nationwide crime and narcotics prevention operation, 72 drunk drivers have been taken into custody.

During the raids conducted yesterday, 25,573 individuals were subjected to inspections. 

13 suspects involved in various criminal activities were identified. 

616 suspected individuals were taken into custody. 

According to police, a total of 161 individuals with open warrants and 265 individuals with bench warrants have been arrested. 

Inaddition, 18 individuals have been fined or charged for reckless driving.

Additionally, 3,567 people have been fined or charged in connection with various other traffic violations.
