Road Closures in Bellanwila & Nawagamuwa for Perahera

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have announced temporary traffic restrictions in several areas around Bellanwila and Nawagamuwa due to the annual Esala Perahera processions scheduled for tonight and tomorrow.

In Bellanwila, vehicular movement will be restricted tonight (August 15) from 7:00 PM onwards due to the Randoli Perahera of the Bellanwila Esala Festival parading through the streets. As a result:

Route 119 will be closed from Boralesgamuwa Junction to Bellanthota Junction.

Route 117 will be closed from Bellanthota Junction to Pepiliyana Junction.

Police advise motorists to use alternative routes until midnight when the procession concludes.

Meanwhile, the final Randoli Perahera of the Bellanwila Esala Festival is scheduled to take place tomorrow night (August 16).

In a separate advisory, police also announced traffic restrictions in Nawagamuwa due to the annual Esala Perahera of the Nawagamuwa Pattini Devalaya.

Accordingly, from 9:00 PM tomorrow (August 16) until 2:30 AM the following morning, the old Avissawella-Colombo road will be closed from Wela Junction to Ranala Junction.

Additionally, on August 17, the same stretch will be closed again from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes during these times.
