Open warrants issued against Rathana Thero, Halloluwa

COLOMBO (News 1st): Open warrants have been issued against former Member of Parliament Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero and former National Lotteries Board Executive Director Thusitha Halloluwa.

The warrants were issued by the Gangodawila and Fort Magistrate’s Courts following submissions made by the Colombo Crimes Division.

Police said that a foreign travel ban has also been imposed on both individuals.

The anticipated bail application filed by Ven. Rathana Thero before the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court was rejected. 

The bail application had been filed citing concerns of an imminent arrest in connection with investigations into the alleged abduction of Ven. Wedeniyagama Wimalatissa Thera, who had served as the General Secretary of the “Ape Janabala Pakshaya.”

In addition, police said that the open warrant against Thusitha Halloluwa was issued in relation to an incident in which unidentified gunmen fired at the vehicle he was travelling in with an attorney-at-law, and robbed several documents in his possession.
