1,605 Fatal Road Accidents Reported So Far This Year

COLOMBO (News 1st): According to Sri Lanka Police, more road accidents have been reported this year than in the previous year (2024).

According to the Police, 1,605 fatal road accidents have been reported so far this year, marking an increase of 171 accidents from last year.

The number of deaths due to road accidents has also risen, with 1,700 fatalities reported this year, an increase of 193 deaths over last year.

Police says that many of these accidents were caused by careless driving, including driving while sleepy or fatigued, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
